What do soccer jerseys and lacrosse equipment have in common? They both live at Soccer Post....although Owen and most other local lacrosse players simply call it “the lacrosse store” or "Angelo's," it's former name.

Owen has worked there since he was 16, so naturally he will tell you it is the best one around.

Is he biased? Definitely.

Is he wrong? We don’t think so.

Why Dips Players Know About It

Your sons arrive at F&M with plenty of lacrosse gear. We also know that over the course of a college season, some of it breaks, wears out, disappears or suddenly need to be upgraded.

Fortunately, they are only a short drive from Soccer Post. The store carries a large selection of men’s and women’s lacrosse equipment, including heads, shafts, complete sticks, gloves, goggles, footwear, goalie gear and plenty of accessories. They also tend to receive popular new equipment as it is released.

Your player can handle the visit himself, but parents may want to take a few extra minutes to stop in while they are in the area. It is an impressive store, even if you do not fully understand why one head is clearly superior to the nearly identical head sitting beside it.

And don’t be surprised if you eventually receive the bill for a custom dye job or the newest head Soccer Post had available on release day.

At least you’ll know where it came from.

When Gear Needs Some Attention

Owen and a several other players sometimes string or adjust sticks for teammates, so someone on campus may be able to help with a quick fix.

But college schedules are busy. The person who can solve the problem may be in class, at lift, at practice or simply not answering his phone.

When no one is available or when gear needs more than a quick adjustment, Soccer Post is the way to go.

Its experienced in-house stringers can:

• Restring or adjust a pocket

• Replicate a player’s preferred stringing pattern

• Recommend a setup based on position and playing style

• Troubleshoot a stick that suddenly “doesn’t throw right”

• Recreate pockets used by college or professional players

They speak the language, which is helpful when the explanation involves pocket placement, release points and shooting strings.

The Custom Work Is Pretty Impressive

Soccer Post is also home to Stylin Strings Lacrosse, which handles its custom stringing and dye work.

They can create everything from clean school-color designs to detailed logos, mascots and graphics.

Owen recently dyed a head for a friend headed to Lynchburg, creating a full color scheme with a hornet and hive. It was one of those moments when we had to admit that all the hours spent experimenting with dye, tape and lacrosse heads led to an impressive result.

If your player has a specific idea, the custom team can usually turn the photo or sketch on his phone into something much more impressive.

Again, just don’t be surprised when the finished product somehow finds its way onto your credit card.

Soccer Post is not focused only on the men’s game.

Emily, who plays women’s lacrosse and knows her gear, says the store has one of the best selections of women’s equipment in the area.

The store carries women’s heads, shafts, complete sticks, goggles and pocket options, with experienced players available to help explain the differences and recommend the right setup.

That makes it worth knowing about for visiting siblings, friends and women’s lacrosse families as well.

And Yes, They Really Do Sell Soccer Gear

Despite the way the lacrosse players talk about it, Soccer Post really is a soccer store, too.

You’ll find cleats, balls, goalkeeper equipment, apparel and jerseys from major clubs and national teams, along with teams you may not see at every sporting-goods store.

So even the non-lacrosse members of the family may find a reason to look around.

Your sons have already discovered Soccer Post through their teammates. Parents, when you're in the area and you're curious about where some of those charges are coming from, take a few minutes to stop in and see why players travel from well outside Lancaster to shop there.

I'll cross my fingers for you that your son's gear lasts all season. Realistically, we all know that if something doesn't break, it will definitely need to be restrung, or, even worse, become outdated when a newer version is released.

When that happens, Soccer Post is the place to go.....and there is a reasonably good chance you’ll hear about it shortly before or after the charge appears.
